What is Sociology?

Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions. Sociology's subject matter is diverse, ranging from crime to religion, from the family to the state, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture, and from social stability to radical change in whole societies. Unifying the study of these diverse subjects of study is sociology's purpose of understanding how human action and consciousness both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.

Sociology is an exciting and illuminating field of study that analyzes and explains important matters in our personal lives, our communities, and the world. At the personal level, sociology investigates the social causes and consequences of such things as romantic love, racial and gender identity, family conflict, deviant behavior, aging, and religious faith.

At the societal level, sociology examines and explains matters like crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, schools and education, business firms, urban community, and social movements. At the global level, sociology studies such phenomena as population growth and migration, war and peace, and economic development.




Sociologists emphasize the careful gathering and analysis of evidence about social life to develop and enrich our understanding of key social processes. The research methods sociologists use are varied. Sociologists observe the everyday life of groups, conduct large-scale surveys, interpret historical documents, analyze census data, study video-taped interactions, interview participants of groups, and conduct laboratory experiments.

The research methods and theories of sociology yield powerful insights into the social processes shaping human lives and social problems and prospects in the contemporary world. By better understanding those social processes, we also come to understand more clearly the forces shaping the personal experiences and outcomes of our own lives. The ability to see and understand this connection between broad social forces and personal experiences -- what C.

Forever 21 has seen some remarkable accomplishments over the past 30 years.
With a goal to become an $8 billion company by 2017 and open 600 stores in the next three years,
it’ll be exciting to see the company achieve in three years what it initially took 30 years to do.

Forever 21 is the 5th largest specialty retailer in the United States.

A customer from Toronto named her daughter Tiev Forever Golding because she almost had her baby in a Forever 21 store. Once the child’s passport expires, they plan to legally change her first name to “Forever”.

The average Forever 21 store is 38,000 square feet, the largest is approximately 162,000 square feet and the original Fashion 21 store is only 900 square feet.








Fashion 21 rung up $700,000 in sales in its first year. The prior three businesses that occupied that building failed within the first year.

Even with the company’s tremendous growth, it still remains a family owned business.

Fashion, quality and sustainability – all at the core of our design process.


H&M’s design department employs 160 in-house designers and 100 pattern makers, as well as several design assistants and print designers. Working from our Head Office in Stockholm, they create H&M’s wide-ranging and varied collections.
The team is large and diverse, representing different age groups and nationalities who draw inspiration from every corner of the globe and a wide variety of sources. From art, cinema, maga-zines and music to street fashion, trade shows and trend seminars.

All these influences are then filtered into constantly updated collections full of inspiring fashion at unbeatable value for money. Men, women, teenagers and children should always find something just for them at H&M – whatever their taste or style.

Our design process is about striking the right balance between fashion, quality and the best price. And it always involves sustainability awareness, that means a strong consideration for both people and the environment, all the way from the sketch book to the customer.

bonita first founded in Johor Bahru, Malaysia in 1990, specializing in costume jewelry. Moved the HQ to Kuala Lumpur in 1999.In 1999 the first Bonita store opened in Mid Valley Megamall. Today, Bonita has 12 stores nationwide, the latest being addition at Pavilion KL. In 2005, Elianto was introduced and the first store opened at First World Resort at Genting Highlands. With 53 stores nationwide include East Malaysia and 13 Overseas franchise outlets. In the near future, Elianto planned to expand it to 60 local outlets. The latest addition is at the Pavilion KL and Lot 10, KL. In 2008, Elianto planned to opened another 20 outlets nationwide to capture larger market share.
